What does an investment trip to Albania look like?
Days 1–2: Golem – the heart of Albania’s booming property market
Our journey begins in Golem, a popular seaside destination located near Durrës.
During our stay, we visited:
- modern new-build apartments with sea views,
- affordable resale properties with investment potential,
- development projects at various stages of construction.
Golem is an ideal location for investors looking for an affordable apartment near the sea while also benefiting from income generated through short-term holiday rentals.
Days 3–4: Travelling through Zvërnec to Saranda and Ksamil
Our journey then continues south, where the true Albanian adventure begins.
Along the way, we stopped near Zvërnec and its flamingo lagoon, travelled through beautiful coastal scenery and eventually arrived in Ksamil, a popular tourist destination often referred to as the “Albanian Maldives.”
We also enjoyed a boat trip around the nearby islands, offering the perfect opportunity to relax, explore the coastline and experience the natural beauty of southern Albania.
We spent two days in Saranda, one of Albania’s most popular tourist destinations. This lively seaside town offers beautiful views of the island of Corfu and a vibrant nightlife that attracts visitors from across Europe.
From an investment perspective, however, Saranda offers a slightly different opportunity:
- there is limited space for new development,
- the property market is more established and prices are generally higher,
- the area remains highly attractive for seasonal holiday rentals.
Saranda is therefore particularly suitable for investors looking for completed, ready-to-rent apartments in a well-established and highly sought-after location.
New development opportunities are more limited, partly due to higher property prices per square metre.
Days 5–6: Returning to Durrës and discovering further opportunities
On our return journey north, we continued exploring additional investment opportunities in Durrës and Golem.
During this part of the trip, we:
- visited newly completed apartments in premium locations,
- viewed properties suitable for both short-term and long-term rental,
- discovered new development projects in areas nicknamed the “Albanian Miami” and the “Albanian Los Angeles.”
These locations offer a more luxurious environment, attractive potential returns and strong appeal among more demanding international buyers and tenants.
